They're Listening — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 August 2026

They're Listening (“the app”) is a game about targeted advertising. This policy explains how your information is handled. In short: the app runs entirely on your device, and we (the developer) do not collect, store, or have access to any personal information about you. The only data handling comes from third-party services used for advertising and leaderboards, described below.

Information the developer collects

None. The app has no account and no login, performs no analytics of its own, and sends none of your information to the developer.

What is stored on your device

Your two meters, your best trivia streak, your points, which brands you have marked as yours, and which trivia questions you have already been asked are all saved on your device only. They are never uploaded, and deleting the app deletes them.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The ads in the app are real ads served by Google AdMob — that is the point of the game. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect and process information such as device identifiers, IP address, coarse location, and app-interaction data, and may use it to show personalized ads where permitted. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services”.

Whether an ad was shown to you, and what you answered about it, stays on your device. The developer never sees it.

App Tracking Transparency (Apple)

On first launch, the app uses Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt to ask whether you allow tracking for advertising. If you decline, the ads you see are non-personalized. You can change this choice at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Consent (EEA, UK, and similar regions)

Where required by law (for example, under the GDPR in the EEA and UK), the app presents a Google-provided consent form at launch so you can make your choices about ad personalization before any ads are shown.

Game Center (Apple)

Leaderboards use Apple's Game Center. If you sign in, Apple handles your Game Center account and nickname; the app submits your points and your best streak so they can be ranked, and reads the boards to display them. The developer receives no personal information through Game Center — Apple does, under its own policy.

In-app purchases

There are none. The app sells nothing.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or the California CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you. Because the developer holds no personal data, there is nothing for us to return, correct, or delete. For advertising data, please use the controls described above (decline tracking, or adjust your consent choices), and refer to Google's and Apple's policies linked above.

Data retention and security

The developer stores no personal data, so there is nothing retained on our side.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
